The “enrichment in the enclosure” meme has a lot of truth to it. We need to shake things up a bit to keep happy. It doesn’t have to be big, but if you ever feel stagnant or a little bluh try going on a walk on a route you haven’t been in or something. It really does help.
every so often, someone reblogs this from me and not OP (hi @majortomwaits!) and i get to look through the notes before i go cry bc mifune was So Handsome. highlights include:
young folk who have never beheld him discovering his beauty
lesbians and straight men saying “if i had to pick a dude”
wailing and gnashing of teeth, generally
“this was BEFORE stranger things, the vibes are that strong”
(My New Favorite) HE IS SO GENDER (y'all are so right, the man Performed Masculinity like no other, but then The Vulnerability)
agreeing with me that OP has the biggest, juiciest brain ever
Lucas wanted him for Obi-Wan Kenobi *rolling in the deep plays in the background*
hi i hope it’s okay that i do some excited shouting off your reblog since it’s got the full video linked. to everyone in the notes asking:
I HAVE GREAT NEWS FOR YOU, BECAUSE IT IS BY THE SAME GUY!
allow me to direct you directly to Alan Becker’s youtube channel right HERE
(and a quick shoutout to those of you who already knew <3)
HOWEVER!
I SEE YOU IN THE TAGS! and i can promise you that the stuff Alan Becker is making TO THIS DAY is even better than the videos you remember from 15+ years ago! (that’s how long he’s been around! isn’t that wild?)
i’m almost certain everybody remembers - or has heard of - the original animator vs. animation, which went viral back in 2006, or maybe you remember watching the third installment of the series in 2011, with these two:
nostalgia at its finest, genuinely! but did you know that there’s a fourth Animator Vs. Animation? i’m sure you recognize this orange fella (he’s the one in the math video!) or maybe his friends from 2014?
but hey - did you know that there’s a fifthinstallment? and that it looks like THIS?
i just cannot stress enough how far the realm of stickfight animations has come in these past years - and Animation Vs. Math is truly just the tip of the iceberg for Alan’s content.
THERE’S EVEN A SIXTH INSTALLMENT. THE FIRST EPISODE (yes, the first episode) JUST RELEASED A FEW MONTHS AGO. LOOK AT HOW INCREDIBLE THIS IS!!! and this is just a small snippet!!
(full credit for these beautiful gifs goes to my beloved @chosec <333)
and as if that wasn’t enough - over sixteen years of incredibly ground-breaking animation done by a team of dozens of wonderfully talented artists - there’s even more.
do you remember this?
this is a screenshot from Animation Vs. Minecraft, and to this date, it is the most viewed Minecraft video on Youtube. that’s not an exaggeration - since 2015, this one video has accumulated over 316 million views. odds are high that if you’ve watched any Minecraft content over the past 7 years, you’ve probably seen this video at least once. and y'know what’s crazy?
the series never ended.
there are three full seasons of Animation Vs. Minecraft, and i’m not exaggerating when i say that the sheer amount of storytelling that is put into these little stickfigures as they explore the block game that everyone knows and loves is unbelievable. i’ve spent the past year dragging everyone i know into it. the full series is a 4 ½ hour epic, steadily increasing in animation quality over the years its been in the works, building up to stunning conclusion with its own original music score that makes me cry. it’s amazing.
here’s some links to my personal playlists, organized and updated in chronological order:
the Speedrun playlist (for quick binge watching, my personal favorite for first-time watchers)
the 100% Run playlist(best for shorter watch sessions, with some added bonus content in the form of Shorts (not necessary to enjoy the full story, but fun to watch regardless))
if there’s any sort of small-studio/team animation you want to watch and support - i cannot recommend Alan Becker’s work enough. there’s found family, there’s cool action scenes, there’s deeply heartfelt moments, all portrayed with the bare minimum of dialogue - and it’s set in a delightfully unique medium full of charm that Alan and his team have maintained to this day.
and please come chat with me over on @sec-one if you have any questions! or just want to gush about how cool these stick guys are! i know i’m going to stick around (lmao) for as long as Alan creates more stories for us to enjoy, and there’s no signs of stopping anytime soon <3
That puts a whole different spin on it. It’s amazing either way, but now I need a moment.
Hi, OP. Your art inspired me to write a story; I hope you enjoy it.
The Earth rises in pieces over the curve of the moon.
So the astronaut unfurls their map – because there’s always a map, and always a plan, preflight checklists and safety protocols, each variable lovingly, fearfully calculated. The paper makes no sound. There’s only white-noise in their suit, like a sigh escaping. Dust that will never move again settles at their boots.
It’s cold. So very cold, and lonely.
The astronaut traces a gloved finger along a trajectory they do not recognize. Up, past inky orbits and soft, graphite nebulae, spirals and columns and the infinite black. They look away. Past the cyan mosaic of home, and into the void.
when charles schulz said “all you need is love. but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt” and anthony bourdain said “your body is not a temple, it’s an amusement park. enjoy the ride” and mark twain said “part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like.” when erma bombeck said “i am not a glutton- i’m an explorer of food,” voltaire said “ice-cream is exquisite. what a pity it isn’t illegal” and when kurt vonnegut said “you can’t just eat good food. you’ve got to talk about it too. and you’ve got to talk about it to somebody who understands that kind of food.”
I’m literally currently working on a thing about the inherently evil/inherently good thing with dnd dragons chromatic vs metallic and I saw your elves thing which
A dragon is to you as you are to a mouse. Sure, you get the odd sicko who actively wants to make the mouse suffer, and the animal rights activist who actively wants to improve the mouse’s life. But most people just don’t give a shit about the mouse, and only really interfere with the mouse when they send in an exterminator to get it out of their house.
The chromatic and metallic dragons are at war, and the reasoning for that war is unknown to anyone but them. They don’t really care about the other beings of the world enough to explain the conflict. Even the elves will be long gone in the blink of a dragon’s eye.
Now, the metallic dragons have figured out that they can pass themselves off as good and benevolent, and use the lesser species as agents and catspaws. By the same token, the chromatic dragons have figured out that destroying the lesser species deprives their enemies of agents. But these aren’t motivated by compassion or malice. The Gold Dragon sees the adventurers as disposable weapons, its “noble wisdom” no more personal then a gun’s scope, and would happily kill them if they stop providing an advantage. The Red Dragon sees the village as a potential source of adventurers, to be destroyed as we might cut a car’s brakes, and won’t bother if there’s an easier way to deal with the threat. Neither is personal.
Ultimately, the dragons are just two sides in a war in which we’re the bullets. Neither side is motivated by the desire to harm or protect- honestly, a few sickos or humanoid rights activists asides, neither side cares about us either way. The only difference is that one side cares what we think.
possibly a weird question, so feel free to ignore/delete this, but how do you think of uh… spicier things to draw? it’s not something i often feel like doing, but when i do it’s so hard to come up with ideas for situations or positions i want to put characters in 😵💫
or if you just don’t want to answer that specifically, then a similar but different question: how do you find inspiration/ideas for what to draw in a more general sense?
i love your art so much! the texture is so lovely and i adore how you draw so many characters fat and hairy ❤️ seeing people that look like me in art is always a treat
Not weird to me at all, I’m happy to answer a question on spicy art making!! 🥳👏✨✨✨ Unfortunately I feel like there’s just too many things to say on the topic, but I’ll do my best to narrow down what I think might be helpful! 🙏💖
So I feel like if you’re just starting out and not sure what to draw at first, just drawing sensual naked people is a great starting point! If drawing a full body is too much - don’t! You can just focus on points that you’re interested in and crop the framing! Not only can it be more visually engaging to crop the image, but it’s also way less daunting than just having a full body to draw on a page. It’s crazy how suggestive even a bust or just a portrait can be!
From there, start adding other sensually naked people to the image if you want to move from a solo session. If you’re not sure what to do for a specific pose/position, just having them draped over each other works! Holding from behind, pulling hair, etc. there’s a lot of different things you can try out! And from there you can start adding more detailed elements that you want to try (maybe bondage, toys, background, whatever you’re into! The world’s your oyster)!
And as a note for brainstorming when drawing two characters/ocs, I feel like so much of the fun comes out of thinking how would these characters act in a sexual situation. Asking yourself questions like “Would one character be more flustered than another? What are their fantasies? What sort of position would they get into if they started making out in a chair? Etc. etc.” And just thinking about potential situations is great for brainstorming as well!
So to reiterate: start small! Draw a sensual naked hottie! Draw a bunch of them! And as you draw more, think about what sort of feeling they might be trying to convey. Maybe they’re embarrassed but horny and trying to cover themselves, maybe they’re inviting and taunting? From there, add another person! How would they interact? How would one of the characters want to be treated by the other? What’s the dynamic like? And just have fun with it!
I feel like sometimes trying to think of something for specific characters/a situation might be daunting to tackle! But drawing one babe being naked and horny is always a great place to start! 👏💖
I hope this was helpful anon! I feel like there’s just SO many things you can do with sauce art, so I have a hard time narrowing down my answer! But I wish you all the best in your spice journey! Remember that just like with any other art-making, thinking about what to draw will get easier and more comfortable with practice! You got this! ^ w ^ 👏💕💕💕
